Coop Website Ideas :: Invitation to share your thoughts!

Posted by - Christopher Small :: Wed, Oct 14, 2009

I'm very excited to have people start using this website and really hope that it fosters a new level of participation, cooperation and involvement between members of the coop.

That having been said, feel free to share your thoughts on the website in this section of the forum by selecting "Coop Website Ideas" in the Forum Category drop down when you start a new discussion. Of course, you can always chime in on other people's discussion regarding some issue if that issue is already under discussion. Also, feel free to post any quick comments you have on the website to this specific forum thread.

Aside from ideas and suggestions, if anything seems out of place or not to be working properly, let me know about that here as well. If for some reason a bug is keeping you from posting a bug report to this forum, you can always send an email to sanjuancoop(at)gmail(dot)com with "Attn Chris" in the subject.

Thanks for taking a minute to read this, and happy surfing!

Your Web Master and Board Member,

Chris Small

I was just wondering if we should have a "contact us" section at the bottom of the home page. I am in the habit of clicking on that tab when I visit webpages and want to send quick emails.

Ahh, I see what you mean. You are thinking of a form that people could fill out at the bottom of the page which would send emails to us? That is a good idea. I'll work on that. Also, I'm thinking that it would be a really good idea to have a subscription thing for the forums so that when you post to a forum discussion you could have it send you updates when new posts are added to that topic. Sound groovy?

Cheers

Better put these instructions on the wholesale ordering page (though the login i.d. will change very soon):

WHOLESALE ORDER DEADLINES AND INFORMATION

The UNFI order deadline is 5 p.m. on Sunday of each week. Please follow the instructions below:

Step 1. Open the UNFI website at unfi.com, selecting the Seattle WA distribution center.

Step 2. Use “cloud@rockisland.com” as the user name and “organic” as the password. After you log in, the customer number for the San Juan Food Co-op comes up; click on that to complete your login, whereupon you can view prices.

Step 3. The Co-op order remains open for a week until it is prepared for submission on Monday. Place what you want in the shopping cart; your items will be saved in the cart automatically. Do not commit to the order as we all add to the order during the week.

IMPORTANT! Do not "commit" the order! Leave the order open for others and for the store to add to the cart, whereupon it will be closed--"committed"--when Anna places the whole order. The Co-op is charged $40 dollars for each separate order, SO IF YOU COMMIT THE ORDER, THE $40 FEE WILL BE CHARGED TO YOU SINCE WE HAVE TO PAY THAT AMOUNT TO OPEN A NEW ORDER!

Step 4. Let Anna at apspears27@gmail.com know what you have put into the cart, providing the five digit product number and price for each item, how many of each item you have placed in the cart, the price for your total order, and your phone number in case there appear to be errors. If this information is not provided to Anna the items you have ordered will be deleted.

Before placing the order, Anna reviews it for errors, verifies emails from those who placed each order, and commits the order at that time for Wednesday’s delivery.

Step 5. Pick up your order on Wednesday from 12 – 2. Anna will use the contact phone number you provided in your e-mail to let you know if the truck is running late.

We add a 5% markup on all wholesale orders for processing and handling. If you are unable to pick up your order within 2 hours after delivery a 10% mark up will be added; our space is too small to provide indoor storage, even for a short time.

We strongly encourage all those ordering wholesale to come and help with unloading the delivery palette, putting away items, sorting wholesale orders, and breaking down boxes. It's a great time to get some volunteer hours in, meet other fellow members, and learn where items are in the store and how things are done. In addition it is a huge help to us at the Co-Op! Thank you so much for your cooperation on this matter.

AZURE ordering is done once a month if someone has volunteered for the pickup. Order deadline is the third Thursday of each month by 3 p.m. and the pickup is once a month on the following Thursday, time to be announced depending on the volunteer driver’s schedule.

The web page is azurestandard.com, user name “cloud@rockisland.com” and pass word “organic”; again, place things into the cart but do not commit the order and let the Co-op at know via email what you have put into the cart (product number, quantity ordered, price, total order, your name and phone). This order is placed only if we have a volunteer willing to do the run to Anacortes to pick it up. This is a good volunteer opportunity, especially if it coincides with a trip to the mainland you were planning anyway. Please let Anna know if you are interested. The Co-op will carry over orders placed for that month into the next month if no order is placed (which will happen if nobody volunteers to pick it up in Anacortes). In that case, if you decide you no longer want that item, delete it from the cart or communicate directly to Anna; otherwise you will be charged when it is delivered.

Thanks!! Happy Wholesaling!

It'll be up shortly when I update the site. Hoping that will be very soon - I've been cranking away quite hard.
