Food Awareness :: Why is it impossible to find unsweetened cranberries?

Posted by - :: Thu, Apr 15, 2010

I have been on the hunt for unsweetened dried cranberries for months now! I have searched everywhere it seems and all I seem to be able to find are cranberries sweetened with "cane sugar"...ugh!

If anyone has any idea where we may find unsweetened cranberries, please, please point me in the right direction!

Thanks!!

the ones the co-op gets from unfi are sweetened with apple juice, if that helps. they're awfully sour naturally, and most people wouldn't buy them of course.

I recently read that sweetening things with fruit concentrate isn't really any better than using plain old sugar after all!

you could buy fresh or frozen and dry them in a warm oven on a cookie sheet.

Aha! Please read my post from the Vincent cranberry farmers in Bandon Oregon. Tim says they'll try to create some unsweetened cranberries for us!
